Held at Ballymore in Brisbane between 29 April and 3 May 2013 teams came from 1 Brigade, 3 Brigade, 7 Brigade and a combined 6th, 16th and 17th Brigade called the 'Enabling' Brigade. A crowd of almost 1,000 was treated to a magnificent afternoon of rugby. The President of Army Rugby, Major General John Caligari, said that "he was chuffed at the success of the first competition and impressed with the standard of rugby being played in both the men's and women's competitions". He added, "the new annual inter-brigade rugby union competition has already made a great start to promoting and developing Rugby Union throughout the Australian Army.” "I am confident that the standard of competition will continue to improve year on year" he said. The trophies were presented to the two team captains at a presentation ceremony at the new 8/9 RAR facilities at Enoggera Barracks. Colonel Clay Sutton, Army Rugby’s Vice-President for Operations said that it was tremendous that 7 Brigade had hosted the Competition. "Being back in the stadium at Ballymore brought back a lot of fond rugby memories and it was great to kick off the new competition here", he said. The competition allowed Army Rugby to select the men's and women's squads for the Australian Services Rugby Carnival to be held in Sydney in a few weeks time. Joe McIvor, Army Rugby’s National Manager said "that the inter-brigade competition enabled us to identify some tremendous new talent for the Army squad." "I'm looking forward to working them up in the next few weeks for the matches against the other services" he added.
